You are about to welcome a child into your world, congratulations! Becoming a mother can be one of the most empowering, life-altering events that will happen in our lives. Unfortunately, many of us lack the support that traditional societies provide. Our parents, aunts, and siblings often live far away or are unable to provide the kind of support we need to make the transition into motherhood safely and gently. Since the beginning of time, women have been assisting one another during these sacred rites of passage. Midwives have caught babies, Grandmothers and Aunties have cooked soup and cared for older siblings and household tasks while the new mother rests, bonds, and breastfeeds her newborn. Today, new mothers are often expected to host visitors, serving tea and cookies just after giving birth, rather than focusing on her need to nestle in bed with her babe.

When I birthed my daughter, I experienced a powerful bond with the women who cared for me. I felt nurtured, safe, and free to go deep within myself to find that primal power that we women hold. That birth was the catalyst for my career as a doula. I am passionate about empowering women as they walk through this rite of passage. I love to journey with new mothers as our ancestral mothers once did.
